So what do you guys think? The darker one is lovely on the cotton colors and hides almost all the time, but the darkest shade is really going to stand out on the embroidery. That can look rather harsh.
The lighter color almost seems to disappear on the embroidery squares but shows up more as a lighter color on the cotton pieced sections. I don't really mind that too much. I think I'm mostly leaning to the lighter choice...
What do you think? Don't be shy.
Oh for what it is worth - I think the lighter one which wont stand out so much on the embroidery - dont want to take away from your wonderful stitcheries!

ReplyDeleteI also think the dark thread would detract from your gorgeous stitcheries - although it would look lovely on the pieced part. If it were mine I think I'd probably go for the lighter thread too :o).

Why did I choose the color I chose? I chose a Color to match the stitchery backgrounds. The quilting is brought out in the darker patchwork, but you want the stitcheries-- not the quilting --- to be the focus of the blocks... just my thoughts.

Light - so it isn't so distracting on the beautiful embroidery blocks. And everyone loves quilting on a quilt, so if the light thread shows up more on the patchwork, so much the better!

ReplyDeleteI vote for the lighter one, too. What about using the light in the stitchery blocks and the dark on the piecing? Other than the obvious pain of changing thread every once in a while.......Could you quilt all the stitchery blocks and then change to the darker thread and do all the pieced blocks? Just a thought.

ReplyDeleteI think you'll be happiest if you change out the thread. Light for the stitchery and darker for the piece work . . . . solves the issues for both spots *s*

ReplyDeleteI would use both threads, the light on the light and the dark on the patchwork areas. Some times it's worth it and this top looks like it would be worth it!
