spiderweb quilt...

hey ladies... has anyone ever done a Spiderweb quilt .....ie one, two, three, four....without doing the pieces on paper? Or maybe on some sort of very thin interfacing? golden paper? I h-a-t-e paper piecing and always use the freezer paper method...which might work. Just thought I'd ask.

PS: the Taupe Tumbler top is .....FINISHED!!

I'm making the back now and getting ready for pinning. I'd show it but it's just as easy to show after quitling in a few days. I'll take a picture when it's all laid out for pinning. How's that?

I did a baby size Spider Web quilt without paper piecing or foundation. It went together very well and in fact was the quilt that got me addicted! My pattern was in a magazine, but Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville.com has a pattern on her site that is larger and similarily done.

I did a large one and I sewed the strips into rectangles and then had a template of the piece of the spider web and cut it out of the piece I had made. Is that just as clear as mud? Went together perfectly.

I am almost finished quilting a quilt by Cheri that is a spiderweb. It's called Patriotic Pinwheels. I made it with some cheap muslin for the foundation. I have about a third of the quilting left to go and then the binding. Maybe I'll get it posted by the end of the month!

I haven't, but I want to. I just saw one today that used a triangle as a background, but you use it to determine size, don't actually sew fabric onto it. It winds up being the background, and the rest of the triangle that you used to determine the size of the strips is simply cut off at the end.

I'm doing one and not using paper. I hate paper piecing too. HATE IT!
